Services for Mr. Wilfred Therrell Goforth will be held at 12 p. m. Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Rev. Malcolm Lewis officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a. m. until service time on Wednesday.

Mr. Goforth, 87, of Little Rock, passed away Sunday, November 10, 2013 at The Baptist Medical Center in Jackson.

Mr. Wilfred Therrell Goforth was born September 24, 1926 in Newton County, MS to Gus and Renie Goforth. Mr. Goforth graduated from Beulah Hubbard High School in 1945. He served in the Occupation of Japan during WWII achieving the rank of Sergeant.

Mr. Goforth graduated from the Trades Training Institute of Mississippi State College in 1948 with a degree in Industrial Electricity. In 1954, he settled in Aberdeen, MS where he worked for the telephone company for 32 years. He owned Goforth’s Restaurant in Aberdeen, MS. In 2002, he returned to Little Rock, MS to be near his siblings.

Mr. Goforth was an active member at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. He enjoyed being a Ham Radio operator and he was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Little Rock.

He was survived by one son, Philip Goforth and wife Lisa and one daughter, Anita Alexander and husband Tom. Grandchildren; Adam Goforth and wife Kendra, Laura Knisely and husband Nathan, Leslie Hoback and husband Joseph, Brian Alexander, Austin Alexander, Katie Alexander and four great-grandsons.

He is also survived by four brothers, Wilmer Goforth and wife Mazelle, Willis Goforth, Gus Goforth, Jr. and wife Jerrie Gail and Jerry Goforth and wife JoAnn and two sisters: Delores Savelle and husband Benarr and Marjorie Russell.

Pallbearers include: Brian Alexander, Austin Alexander, Herman Russell, Burlon Russell, Marce Goforth and Kenneth Moore

Memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 29 Goforth Rd, Little Rock, MS 39337.
