Technician Class License Training

The Meridian Amateur Radio Club in conjunction with Rush Medical Group and Lauderdale Emergency Management Agency will be sponsoring an Amateur Radio Technician Class License Training Session.

The FCC has dropped the Morse code requirement for all Amateur Radio license classes effective 02/24/2007. The Meridian Amateur Radio Club, Rush Medical Group, and Lauderdale Emergency Management wants to help you become an Amateur Radio operator. Now you can sign up for a Technician License class and join the ranks of America's amateur radio operators.

If you have always wanted to become an amateur (ham) radio operator or know someone that may be interested but learning "the code" held you back, now is the time to consider registering for the Technician License Class. Get your name on the list for the next class NOW by sending an email to Rick Morefield, AE5FE at ae5fe@arrl.net.

Please include your name, phone number, e-mail address, or any point of contact information we will let you know when the class will be starting and the schedule.

To prepare for the Technician License classes you will need the latest copy of "The ARRL Ham Radio License Manual". You can obtain the manual directly from the ARRL web site (item #9639/ISBN 0-87259-963-9) at http://www.arrl.org/catalog/. The manual is a good reference guide for future use. The normal price for the book is $24.95 plus shipping and handling. The Meridian Amateur Radio Club does not charge any fee for the class but we highly recommend that you purchase the manual. There will be a fee of $14 for the ARRL-VE FCC examination at the end of the class.

A local Bookstore may be able to order the manual for you if they are not in stock. ARRL, the American Radio Relay League, is the national Amateur Radio organization, headquartered in Newington, CT. For more information about Amateur Radio visit The ARRL web site at www.arrl.org.
