 Bible Verse

Hebrews 12:1-2 / Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. NIV

President’s Report

As many of you know the ARRL field day is approaching quickly. Preparations by many groups are already under way; this will probably be a very exciting event this year.

The WX5MIE group will be hosting their event this year at the old Ethridge auto lot on north frontage rd. They will have generator power and other amenities during this event so everyone will be comfortable.

The W5FQ group will be hosting their event this year at the Red Cross building (1820 - 23rd Ave, Meridian, MS). This is a joint effort between the two in order to rework and test the antenna structures there in order to get them more prepared for weather events and other disasters as the need arises.

If you are not committed to one of the groups yet, I hope this will serve as an invitation and let you know that you are welcome to work with either or both groups. Dates are posted on the ARRL web site.

I hope all members and nonmembers wishing to attend this event will be able to do so. If you would like to participate with the W5FQ group please email one of us and we will glad to have with us.

WX5MEI Field Day Plans

Plans for Lauderdale-Clarke Counties ARES (WX5MEI) Field Day, 22-23 June 2013, are well under way!

The Field Day Site will be located on the western side of the former Bill Ethridge Lincoln-Mercury dealership located at 200 North Frontage Rd, Meridian, MS. This is between U-Haul and Holiday Inn.

LEMA Director David Sharp has once again offered the use of the LEMA Comm Trailer with a generator. The HF equipment at LEMA used for phone and HF digital will be placed in the trailer for Field Day Operations.

There are no water, electricity, or restroom facilities on site. Port-a-potty has been secured for use during the weekend. Bottled water and sodas will be made available to Field Day participants. If funding becomes available snacks will be made available as well. There are no plans on cooking. Plenty of restaurants are available in the immediate area.

If you have any equipment that you would like to bring to Field Day please let me know so that we can determine who is committing to Field Day and how to best determine the site layout.

Operators will be needed!!! Field Day can only be successful if there are operators to operate to and people to escort the general public, media, and both elected and served agencies that may attend. Weather you can operate 1 or 2 hours, or more, we need to start looking at availability and scheduling of manning.
