Mark 12:30-31 --- Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” (NIV)
President's Report
Hello All.
Some of you may have listened to the nets running before and after Helene made landfall. If you watched the news from those areas then you had a pretty good chance to see the devastation and now you see why we hold nets weekly. These nets are an important way to test your equipment for the purposes of using in the event of a disaster. We also use the field day and other events to test our remote location skills.
Being able to "load up and deploy" is something all hams should practice regularly, with this being said, I would like everyone to consider the next field day to be held in one of the parks. Let's look at maybe getting a camping spot somewhere and setting up to work in shifts all night like we used to. Maybe by doing it this way you can bring your camper or tent, even the family. Pick a schedule to work maybe an hour or to then enjoy the beach with the family, then come back work some more if you want and then we maybe do a potluck dinner. Everyone is invited and the kids can see how we do it. It's definitely something to think about.
On another note, I will have paperwork for an upcoming class with me at the meeting. Want to know more? Come to the meeting! See you there.

HAMFEST/CONVENTION
This is Jim Armstrong, AK5J, with the Jackson Amateur Radio Club. I would like to invite the members of the Meridian Amateur Radio Club to the ARRL Day in the Park, October 5, at the Old Trace Park in Ridgeland, Mississippi. This is located on the Barnett Reservoir. The address is: 422 Post Road, Ridgeland, MS. The City of Ridgeland is letting us use their Recreation Center which is a nice lodge adjacent to the Park.
It should be a fun time of fellowship, food, and flea market activity. There are a number of door prizes to be given away. The time for this event is 9 am til 2 pm on Saturday, Oct. 5, at Old Trace Park in Ridgeland. There will be a short program at noon. It should be fun.
Hope several of you can come.
