President's Report
Greetings fellow HAMS,
Was glad to see a few of you at the Huntsville Hamfest. I would say that we represented Meridian area clubs as well as others did theirs. Hope we can share toy store stories from the fest at our next meeting. Not much more to pass on at this time, except suggesting for y’all to look up some readings about GMRS and FRS requesting lower VHF frequency allocation from the FCC. Good chat topic for next meeting. The next meeting will be on September 6th at 9AM again at the Queen City truck plaza side dining room. Hope to see many of you there for fellowship, drink and breakfast.

What Is Meteorological Fall?
Meteorological fall refers to the three-month period of September, October, and November in the Northern Hemisphere. Unlike astronomical seasons, which are based on the Earth’s tilt and orbit around the sun, meteorological seasons are defined by the calendar. Meteorologists and climatologists use these fixed dates to make it easier to compare weather statistics year after year.
By starting on September 1 and ending on November 30, meteorological fall neatly aligns with the transition from summer heat to winter chill. This system also helps with record- keeping, since climate data can be grouped into consistent, three-month blocks. While astronomical fall may begin later in September, meteorological fall is already underway, marking the season of cooler temperatures, colorful foliage, and shorter days.
