President's Report

MARC President Wayne, KC5HPU is out of town for a couple of weeks, he asked me as VP to fill in for him and forward his wishes to all for a Happy New Year.

On December 7 the MARC was hosted by the Collinsville Fire & Rescue department at the Collinsville Christmas Market festival where we operated radios under the MARC banner as special event station W5C. HF radios on a long wire off-center fed dipole antenna and a portable HF antenna made over 100 contacts during the festival. This was an effective demonstration of amateur radio in view of the several hundred people present at this event. We are invited to return and set up a radio booth at the Fire & Rescue Department sponsored Collinsville Day on the first Saturday of May.

President Wayne & I are disappointed to announce that our recent application for an ARRL grant for building a repeater was not approved. Of course, we will try again during the next round of grant application submissions.

As we think about our plans and resolutions for the new year nothing exceeds the importance of planning for time and activities with our faith, family and community. Activate some parks and bring the family along!

Happy New Year, 73.

MARC VP Buford, KI5HCM

ADDITIONALLY THE SHORE STATIONS WERE DIRECTED TO TRANSMIT HURRICANE INFORMATION WHEN RECEIVED AND ON THE REGULAR SCHEDULES.
