President's Report
Greetings fellow HAMS (Amateur Radio Operators)
Fall weather is upon on. From my communications with some MARC members it looks like several Operators are working on new HAM projects and endeavors. If we get stumped on a project out there, we have several others with helpful knowledge. Please reach out to each other for the knowledgeable help. Most of them I've had dealings with are eager to share knowledge or even a helping hand.
I'm pleased to announce that we have a special visitor coming to our next meeting. Mr. Robert Hayes KC5IMN our MS Section Emergency Coordinator will be here to provide a presentation on Ham Radio emergency communications in Mississippi.
Our next meeting will be held October 3rd at 9am, at the Suqualena Volunteer Fire Dept. at the corner of Hwy. 19 and 494.

VE TEST RESULTS
Here is the result of the September 19th test session...
We had one (1) candidate to take her test for technician class license.
Blanche E. Ryals took her test for the Technician Class license. She passed the test and she is now a Technician Class Amateur Radio Operator! Judging by the results of her test results, I am very sure she has spent lots of time studying for this test! Congratulations and welcome to the world of Amateur Radio operations! Don’t stop studying, keep advancing! Looking forward to hearing you on the bands!

The VJ Day Special Event in Commemoration of the end of WWII
The Meridian Amateur Radio Club hosted a special event commemorating the end of WWII 81 years ago. It was held August 29th through September 2nd, 2026. This QSL card celebrates this event. LEST WE EVER FORGET was the subject of the event. The official end of World War II occurred on September 2nd, 1945, when Japan formally signed the instrument of surrender aboard the Iowa class Battleship, USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay 81 years ago. We made 2211 contacts, including about 25 to Japanese stations. I personally filled out and sent 194 QSL cards. It was a "labor of love"!

ARRL Day in the Park
October 24, 2026 @ 9:00 am - 2:00 pm Free
The 2026 ARRL Day in the Park will be held on Saturday, October 24, at the Ridgeland Recreation Center at Old Trace Park on the Barnet Reservoir in Ridgeland. The host club is the Jackson Amateur Radio Club and the hours will be from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm. The folks at Ridgeland Parks and Recreation have graciously allowed us to use their Recreation Center adjacent to the main parking lot.
This will be a fun time of fellowship, forums, food, flea market and other activities. There is a nice dog run very close to the Recreation Center. We are in the process of lining up a couple of forums. Steve Goodgame, K5ATA, who worked at ARRL Headquarters for ten years and now lives in Oxford plans to attend and give some remarks. A number of door prizes will be given away at noon. Old Trace Park is located at 422 Post Road in Ridgeland.
To get there follow the signs to the Bill Waller Craft Center on Rice Road and then continue on Rice Road a short distance until you get to a stop sign at the intersection with Post Road. Take a right on Post Road and Old Trace Park will then be the second right. The Rec Center will be on the right side of the large parking lot as you drive in. Call-in is 146.640 –

PLEASE NOTE: We will send a code out later to use if the gate to Old Trace Park is closed. If anyone has to pay $5 to get in, you will be reimbursed.
