Meridian Amateur Radio Club (MARC) owns the W5FQ repeater and operates on 146.700 MHz with a 100 Hz PL Tone. An ARES 2-meter net is held every Tuesday evening at 7PM. All amateur radio operators are invited to participate.

Several MARC members get together at The Checker Board Restaurant on South frontage Road for breakfast and coffee on Saturday mornings from (approximately) 9AM - 11AM.

Business meetings are held in the back room of The Checker Board Restaurant on the second Saturday of each month beginning at 10 AM pending any conflicts. Our next business meeting will be held on Saturday February 11th, 2011. Come join us!

12/14/2011 - The Meridian W5YI VE Team held in monthly test session last night, Tuesday 12/13/2001 the following is the result: Mark S Hill of Russell, MS took his Element 2, Technician Class AND his Element 3, General Class tests and PASSED both and is now a new General Class Amateur Radio Operator! When heard on the air, Please welcome him as a NEW Ham!!

ARRL Volunteer Exams

The ARRL Volunteer Examiner team from Meridian has scheduled examination dates as follows for 2012:

  • 01/26/2012
  • 03/22/2012
  • 05/24/2012
  • 07/26/2012
  • 09/27/2012
  • 11/29/2012

All exams will be held at 6 PM at the Lauderdale Emergency Management Agency (LEMA) office,

Meridian W5YI Volunteer Exams

The Meridian W5YI VE Team will host an Amateur Radio exam session every 2nd Tuesday of the month. Test session will begin at 7:00 PM in the Meridian Aviation Hanger just North of the main terminal at the Meridian Airport (MEI). Cost of the exam is $14.00.
